  1. I have never seen a green wall. I think they are really cool and I would love to have one in my house. Anyhow I notice from your link that there are lots of green walls in Vancouver as well as Surrey. I will have to visit them the next time I'm down there.

Once I get into writing I can focus really well. I usually write at home, in my log house in the country. Sometimes I take my laptop to a coffee shop. For me it is about wether or not I can focus on what I want to say, not the environment, that affects my writing.

  2. Hi Cathi. Hi Nora.

Personally, I do my best work at Starbucks. I'm in marketing so I love places that have energy to them.I love the atmosphere Starbucks offers: the smells, the sounds, the people watching, the music, the happy times. I think if I were to work from home I'd spend too much time in the kitchen : ) And my office at work is, well, my office where everything else happens in my day. As for the airport… if I didn't have to pay for parking I think I would truly enjoy that.

    Thanks,

    David

  3. I like working under a tree or at the beach the very best. I like to write drafts out longhand and do my my blue sky thinking there. If I’m at the computer I’m more inclined to edit and be less creative. That said, I always think that I’m wasting my time when I’m allowing my mind to float. I know that that’s crazy, but that’s what “the critic” yips.

What I’m really enjoying right now is the creative process of talking about political theory with my nephew who is in the middle of mid terms and papers. He needs some help getting his thoughts straight and uses me as a sounding board. It’s been so much fun and go for getting my mind a bit more nimble.

  5. Hi David,

I am starting to think more about writing in public spaces. Doesn't seem to work at the CBC, where we have open plan offices (distracting), but it sure seems to work for other people.

  6. I used to love writing in libraries. In fact I even had a desk at Sig Sam at U of T that I called "The Virginia Woolf Good Luck Desk" There's nary a desk in there anymore. And the AV library is gone as are all the arts books. Science science science. growl
