Trends in Style and Cradle-to-Cradle

In this trendwatching podcast, Nora Young looks at news that Old is the New Black! (Via JC Report). What do you think it fueling Old Chic?

Cathi Bond takes a look at new research out of Stanford. She has a really interesting example of turning waste byproducts into something useful: rocket fuel! Do you have examples of innovative approaches to using up waste byproducts? We’d love to hear about it.

One Response to Trends in Style and Cradle-to-Cradle

  1. I feel as though these trends are like reading NME or Melody Maker in the early 1970s–a glam flavor of the week, loudly trumpeted, soon abadoned. I had a sense in the early 2000s that we were reaching a cool, eclectic place, in which one appropriated and remixed at will. Now “old is the new black” this week, and next week will be “pink is the new black”.

I completely support this idea of re-purposing waste and by-products to try to create a new “eco-system” of consumption.
